Fundacja Gdańska

About us

Gdansk Foundation was established in 1998 by authorities of Gdansk and local business circles. The budget consisted of regular, statutory goals payments.

At the beginning the Foundation was playing a supportive role only, helping financially with big, cultural events like "Reconciliation Concert" that took place in st. John’s church in September 1999, with the participation of The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Warsaw National Philharmonic Chorus. That event was a part of 60th anniversary of II World War start.

Currently, Gdansk Foundation is a developed company with full rights. It is an organizer of many events. Our main goal is to promote Gdansk in Poland and abroad and also to create a new image of the city.

The main goal of the Foundation is to uphold and support the evolution of local communities, especially as far as social, informational, cultural, educational and scientific activities are concerned. We also act in favor of local democracy development and the process of strengthening relations between local, European communities, with special attention put to Baltic Sea region and Hanzeatic cities.

Gdansk Foundation aspires to become an efficient means for running complex tasks (multi-sided projects) for the city of Gdansk. Our field of interest includes culture, education, sport and promotion of the city. Also, we initiate and coordinate inter-sector projects which are based on external financing.
